Charles-Alexis' open classes in contemporary dance explore, in an encouraging and positive atmosphere, floor work, interpretation, the kinesthetic discovery of the possibilities of the body, the training of the athlete and the artist, improvisation alone and in contact with others, contemporary technique, alignment, meditation, somatic approaches and learning various choreographies.
Her approach to movement, influenced by release technique, isolations, floorwork, yoga, play, the concept of groove, and the need to step outside one's comfort zone, cultivates vulnerability and tenderness as the primary drivers of power, inner strength, and healing. The class approaches floor and improvisation as means of expressing the student's individuality and culminates in the application of these concepts within choreographies with varied aesthetics.
